OUR COMMUNITY

Wollumbin Family Support

Wollumbin Family Support are a Northern Rivers based organisation, providing community-based services to promote safe families and safer communities, with a focus on the prevention, options and recovery from domestic violence.

After the unexpected closure of the Tweed Valley's Women's Services, Wollumbin Family Support was formed, and currently operates with three major programs for Prevention and Recovery from Domestic Violence.

The Prevention Project, Love Bites, is a school-based program that educates youth on domestic and family violence, sexual assault and consent awareness. Delivered by trained facilitators, the program takes students through a series of workshops in Respectful Relationship Education.

Wollumbin Family Support also offers Recovery programs, aiming to support women recovering from domestic violence through their 'Finding Me' and 'Valuing Me' programs, offering women a safe, therapeutic space in which to process and recover from domestic violence.

Wollumbin Family Support rely on grants and donations to continue to help vulnerable members of the community. At First National Murwillumbah, our community charity program aims at helping local not-for-profit organisations and we chose Wollumbin Family Support as the recipients of our 2020 fundraising.
We were joined by Michelle and Ilze for a morning tea, where they told us about the history of the organisation and the programs they have successfully implemented.
